How do we conduct ourselves as Christians…

A friend compared our life to an IT Department:

“It reminds me too much of IT dept’s. There’s a gap between those who know computers inside and out and those who know next to nothing, and need the most help. There’s a language barrier, and quite often an attitude barrier. Ask an IT guy what the problem is and he’ll scoff while telling you “it’s the user.” I want to bridge the gap in IT, just like I want to bridge the gap for Christians. For too long was I a user, and didn’t know anything… and for too long, idealistic Christians would scuff and say “its your fault you don’t understand.” It was the people who stepped down and said “Hey, this is really reeeally confusing stuff and I’ll be honest, I don’t understand it perfectly either… but lets see what we can figure out together” that helped me the most. I hope all that made sense… I work best in analogies.” Steve

If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:3(NIV)

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.  Do everything in love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14(NIV)

Love is the answer!  How can you love on the unlovable?

  1. Steve, I couldn’t agree more. So many outside the faith see God, the Bible, and church as just a set of rules that will make their life dull and oppressed. That makes me so sad and I know it is our fault as Christians for letting that happen.
“Let’s figure this out together”. Absolutely, we have to take people where they are….in sin (as we all are struggling through) and help them move forward to a better life. God’s guidelines are there because he wants us to have that “abundant life”. As I read the Bible I don’t see Jesus as someone shaking His figure at us in condemnation. He sought out the sinner and tried to create a relationship with him…Zachaeus, Mary Magdalene, the women at the well.
Luke 4:18-19 God’s Spirit is on me; he’s chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, To set the burdened and battered free, 19 to announce, “This is God’s year to act!”

He has chosen ME…good news to the poor….set the burdened and battered free. “Let’s roll”
