What about me? I need time for me?

Have you ever heard anyone say this?  If you are human, you probably have even said this yourself.  I hear this mainly when people are having marriage problems.  The following passage puts a perspective on this:

Instructions for Christian Households

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.  Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.   For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.  In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.  After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—  Ephesians 5:21-29 (NIV)

Husbands need to love their wives just as Christ loved the church.  Christ asked for nothing from the church and even died for it!  If a husband loved his wife to this level, would it be easy for the wife to submit themselves to their husband?

The first statement makes it clear to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.  If one does and the other does not, does this imply that the one that does should stop?  No.

God is in control.  Do you allow Him to manage your relationships?  Are you saying “what about me?”  How can you focus better on the people around you and allow God to take care of you?

Compromise and Communication is the KEY to every relationship!!

  1. After reading this:

“Husbands need to love their wives just as Christ loved the church.  Christ asked for nothing from the church and even died for it!  If a husband loved his wife to this level, would it be easy for the wife to submit themselves to their husband?”

My expectations have shifted. Not on my wife anymore, but all on me. I’m called to love and ask/expect nothing.
