What is the most indispensable weapon in dealing with life?
It seems everyone wants to know how to deal with financial issues, desires with pornography, marriage, being diagnosed with a severe disease or health problem just to name a few. We look for help for these from Oprah Winfrey to Dr. Oz. We wonder how can we prevent or conquer these issues but we seem to never solve completely. How can we do this?
Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. Ephesians 6:13-18 (MSG)
I once had a Jewish rabbi ask me what is the longest I have ever prayed. I said at one time it was about an hour. He said I still do not know how to pray. Since then I have had a chance to pray longer due to events in my life and I really think this rabbi was somewhat correct. I really should be praying all the time. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17(NIV) it states to “pray continually”.
Do you pray so that no one falls behind or drops out? Are you up against more than you can handle? How can prayer and the Bible help you with dealing with these issues?

One of my favorite coping techniques for daily life is visual pictures. As I travel through my day I often draw from a picture of Jesus walking along with me just like a friend who is shadowing my every activity. If I feel hurt by someone’s unkind words I look over my shoulder and there He is shaking His head and reminding me not to take it personally. “Brenda, he is really stressed right now.”, Jesus often says. When a superior doesn’t see all of the effort I have put into a task and I feel unnoticed. “Brenda, you are doing an awesome job here. I am so proud of you. I noticed you were up really late last night. Thank you.” Jesus comments. If the Trinity; God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, are real in my life I would have to say that prayer is a moment by moment process. Thank you Jesus for spending this time with me this morning. Now lets get ready and head out for the day. It will be so nice to have a friend by my side as I do life today. I love you Jesus.
