Is Scripture a Gift?

The challenge, are you ready for it?

www.DoYouReallyBelieve.com is challenging you to get into the word, seek Christ, and live in his footsteps!  This past week some people are taking the challenge!  This post is from a friend that is in a youth group at www.chetscreek.com!

The Gift of Scripture

Today I was writing in my journal about how awesome it was that I had a muffin when I got home from school and I was hit by the important lesson that can be learned from a condition I have.  I inherited a disease from my mom called Celiac disease.  It’s basically an allergy to gluten which is in wheat and whey products.  Now wheat is in a lot of foods but whey is a protein and a preservative so it is in EVERYTHING.

What I realized was this: all day there is food everywhere I go but I can only consume maybe one-tenth of it without an adverse reaction; so when I get home and I’m able to eat a gluten-free muffin, it makes my day and satisfies my hunger.  In the world we are surrounded by things that aren’t fulfilling to our spiritual diet and when we try to use worldly things to fill that space, it doesn’t work.  When we get home at the end of the day and can open up our Bibles and read the Scripture to satisfy our spiritual hunger, we should be even happier than I was when I got to eat that muffin.

“How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your Word. I relish everything you’ve told me of life, I won’t forget a word of it.”   Psalms 119:9,16  (The Message)

Are you eating the right kind of diet?
