HOLY WOW? How can we deal with all of this?
Recently, I had a very close friend wake up with a sore neck and no feeling in their right arm. They could not stand for more than a few seconds and nothing would help the pain. After going to the Emergency Room, as well as two doctor visits, the results are almost zero. Two weeks have gone by and the simple task of eating or sleeping has become a painful journey.
During this time, we have asked ‘how’ or ‘why’. The doctors response is that ‘this just happens’. It could be several things and we will just have to give it time.
Two weeks ago my life seemed complicated, now I know what complicated truly is! The friend going through this ordeal is my best friend. I hate seeing her go through this! In addition, I have seen people barely able to breath while waiting to see their doctor. Also, I have seen people alone in the waiting room and looking very sick. This event has opened my eyes in realizing what my parents have gone through and that when your health is good, you need to live for the moment with all that you have!!
All around us we observe a pregnant creation. The difficult times of pain throughout the world are simply birth pangs. But it’s not only around us; it’s within us. The Spirit of God is arousing us within. We’re also feeling the birth pangs. These sterile and barren bodies of ours are yearning for full deliverance. That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don’t see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy.
Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. Romans 8:25-27 (MSG)
Do you know when life seems like Hell and you are sitting alone that God’s Spirit is right there with you? Did you know that if you cannot pray or do not know what to pray for, that God’s Spirit is praying for you? Did you know that every detail in your life that is seeking the love of God is worked into something good?
Pray for others that are worse off than you! Ask God to help you not waste a moment!
