Sacrifice – Do you know what that truly means?

Jeffrey K. Edwards

Have you ever sacrificed for someone else? Have you given of your time to help another?

Abraham was asked by God to sacrifice his son Isaac.

Genesis 22:2  He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”

Could you do that?

Romans 12:1   “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

Can we even begin to comprehend what our Father in Heaven felt when He sacrificed His Son for all of our sins?

Romans 5:8   “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

John 15:12-14 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.”

John 14:6  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
