How should you perceive life?

“If you haven’t found something worth dying for, you aren’t fit to be living.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The more I think about life the more I wonder.  Should I live this life as a temporary event that is in preparation for the next? Or should I live this life as if I  have just one chance and I need to get the most out of it for myself?  Life seems to be depleting while always wanting what you do not have. If someone tells you that you cannot have something,  you then want to do what you have been told you cannot.

Paul said in the Bible:  For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.  Philippians 1:21 (NIV)

Jesus said in the Bible:  Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember?  Mark 8:18 (NIV)  (Note: This phrase is quoted throughout the Bible.)

God has given us eyes and ears for seeing and hearing the beauty and variety of God’s world.  Our ears and eyes are perceived to be even more valuable to us when we recognize the serious consequences of losing them.

Have you lost your hearing and vision that God has given you to see both this temporary life as well as the life that we are in training for?  Do you look at dying as gain and living as the mission of Christ?  Have you found something worth dying for?  Are you settling for just whatever?

By the way, take it from me, life is short!!
