Refused to be Rescued?

A New Life in My HandAn animal lover found a turtle the size of a football in the middle of a busy street. This man ran through traffic, placing himself at great risk to move the giant turtle to safety, but the ingrate decided to live up to its moniker of “snapping turtle.” No matter how gently the man reached out, the belligerent turtle stretched his long neck, unhinged its jaw to an impossible degree and bit those helping hands. He wasn’t grateful for the rescue, nor did he care that the man placed himself in mortal danger in order to save the turtle from himself. After moving him to safety, the man left to tend his wounded hands…and the turtle began slowly making his way back into the busy street.

Is your response to your Savior the same as this turtle’s? Do you stand in the middle of the mess you’ve made of your life while Jesus stands beside you, stretching His hand to pull you to safety, to everlasting joy? Have you accepted His sacrifice and invited Him to save you from yourself and guide your life? Or do you snap at His hands that bear the wounds of saving you, insisting that you don’t need His help? Jesus put himself in harm’s way…to the point that He died in your place on a cross. To save you. To give you life eternal with Him.

Will you still refuse your Rescuer? Colossians 1:13-14 says, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” If you’re tired of sitting in the middle of that road fearing the outcome of your sins and you’re ready to accept Jesus, please ask us how. We would love the opportunity to start you on a new life with Jesus!
