What are you thankful for?

Daybreak in the ForestIn the United States, on the fourth Thursday of November, we celebrate Thanksgiving. It consists of families coming together and eating a huge meal centered on turkey and dressing. Then lots of television filled with football games. Eating and football can be fun but does that really express ‘thanksgiving’?

For the past month, my pastor has been preaching about giving thanks. He’s asked us all to write on a post-it note then place on a banner something that we’re thankful for. Well, I’ve thought about it and have had a hard time narrowing it down to just one thing. Yes, I’m very thankful for my health, my family, my church family, a roof over my head, food to eat, transportation and so much more. In other words, I am thankful to God for EVERYTHING!!!

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!  Serve the LORD with gladness!  Come into his presence with singing!  Know that the LORD, he is God!  It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!  Give thanks to him; bless his name!  For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.  Psalm 100
