Are you willing to learn?

learn, listen, ignore, hideI am sitting at a Starbucks and next to me is a student trying to tutor another student in Calculus.  The one learning has been doing the problems a certain way and does not understand; nor do they want to change the way they have been doing the problems, even though they do not understand.  The teaching student is explaining over and over, and finally the one trying to understand starts to accept the way to calculate the solutions, even though they seem very skeptical.

I see this and wonder about myself in how much I push back, do my own thing, avoid the truth and just make life difficult for myself.  I see the learning student, and without judging, see myself doing this all the time.

This verse comes from one of my favorite stories in the Bible.  Jesus feeds the masses and then disciples go off with Him on a trip.  They start arguing about not having food.  Jesus ask the following questions:  ‘Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember?‘  Mark 8:18 (NIV)

These questions seem like the disciples are really not getting it.  When you read the story, are you wondering how could the disciples miss it so much. What is your story?  Are you not getting it?  Have you told God that you cannot get it and you are not willing  for Him to show you?  Have you surrendered to His will?

I am so confused! Do you feel like you do not hear anyone or they cannot hear you? Complete silence?
Do you sometimes ignore others?
God where are you?
I cannot do that or I will not do that or I will let God do that in me, which one?
