Do you deceive yourself?
This seems to be a crazy question but I am amazed at how much we all do this. Have you ever looked at the nightly news and asked, “How could someone do that?”. Some people do the strangest things, yet they don’t see it.
An example for me is that I am bald. Not one hair is on the top of my head. I do not even think about it ,but every time I look in the mirror I go, “Oh yea, I am bald.” The interesting thing is that when I am not looking in the mirror, I don’t think I am bald . You may ask,”How could you forget?”. Maybe I looked in the mirror a lot more when I had hair. Either way, I am bald. It seems my brain deceives my thought patterns to think that I am skinny, have a full head of hair, and I’m young. BUT, the mirror does not lie.
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. James 1:22 (NLT)
Do you think you have a full head of hair, you are young, and you are skinny? Do you just listen to the Word or do you deceive yourself? Do you do what it says or even think you do? Do you have a close friend that will tell you the truth and still be your friend? Are you willing to investigate the level of your deception?
