Should you be “Born again”?

Walt Jabsco

It’s seems funny when Christians say, “I am born again!”  Back when Jesus said it to Nicodemus (John 3), or even when Jimmy Carter described himself as ‘born again’, notably in the first Playboy magazine interview of a US Presidential candidate, both the reporter and Nicodemus responded with, “How can this be?”

When you are born, you are naked and start off fresh.  Jesus uses the following as an illustration:

You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’  The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”  John 3:7-8 (NIV)

Do you laugh when people say that they are “Born Again”?  Do you laugh that Jesus said this?  Do you allow the Spirit of God to direct you?  How is your faith?  Does this seem like foolishness?  If you do not understand, are you willing to dig into the Bible and try to figure it out?
