How should you deal with those kids?
As parents we put pressure on our children to “Honor your father and mother”,etc. I agree with this, but should it be from the parent reminding the child of this or should the parent be someone the child actually honors?
Children, do what your parents tell you. This is only right. “Honor your father and mother” is the first commandment that has a promise attached to it, namely, “so you will live well and have a long life.” Fathers, don’t exasperate your children by coming down hard on them. Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master. Ephesians 6:1-4 (MSG)
This scripture informs the children to follow the commandment to honor their father and mother. It then informs the fathers to not exasperate the children by coming down hard on them. Lead them in the way that our Lord and Master does.
Do you exasperate, frustrate, or irritate your children? Are you the kind of person that your children can see God in? If you are like me, you have failed at this sometime or another. The challenge each day is to renew your self in the Lord and seek His wisdom. Be the kind of parent that is worth honoring! If you are not a parent and have kids in your life, be the kind of person that is worth honoring!
