Will you sit and soak or step up and serve?
I have heard this at our church a lot. We are challenged regularly to help others by serving as if you are doing it for God. Not for credit but rather for an act of it being an out pouring of your faith; what you believe in! So many people serve and seek God, others point at the issues and wait for something to urge them to lift a finger, and others are constantly idle in everything they do.
“In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate.” 2 Thessalonians 3:6-9 NIV
Do you know what is being said here? Do you have a problem with being idle? Do you avoid idle people? Do you have your priorities aligned? Are you chasing the wrong thing? Are you offering yourself as a model to be imitated? Do you have eyes to see and ears to hear?
