Do you believe that ‘this is it’?
So many people live as if their time on this earth is all that there is. Live and let live and as long as you’re a ‘good’ person, you’ll be fine.
Dozens of ‘religions’ believe in one or more of the following: an afterlife/lives, no after life, good works are the key to heaven, wealth and power are key, pay as you go, only a certain amount of people will get into heaven, obtaining different levels in the afterlife by what you do, witchcraft, idol worship, more than one god, 1000s of gods, and so on.
Yet, there is a very simple answer to the above question: Do you believe that ‘this is it?’ NO!!
The Bible, God’s Holy Word, tells us throughout scripture that there is life after death if you believe that God sent His only Son to die on the cross for our sins.
In the Book of Job, there is a scripture that warns us about what will happen if we believe ‘Live and let Live”:
Those who live by their own rules, not God’s, can expect nothing but trouble, and the longer they live, the worse it gets. Job 15:20 (The Message)
In the Book of Psalms, the author goes into more detail about the consequences of living for oneself:
This is what happens to those who live for the moment, who only look out for themselves: Death herds them like sheep straight to hell; they disappear down the gullet of the grave; They waste away to nothing— nothing left but a marker in a cemetery. But me? God snatches me from the clutch of death, he reaches down and grabs me. So don’t be impressed with those who get rich and pile up fame and fortune. They can’t take it with them; fame and fortune all get left behind. Just when they think they’ve arrived and folks praise them because they’ve made good, They enter the family burial plot where they’ll never see sunshine again. Psalm 49:13-19 (The Message)
Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Do you believe that there is life after death? Do you ‘live for the moment’ or for the true reason we’re here on earth?
