Which way should I look at?

elderly, raw, youth, middle age, jesus, hearingAs I get older I realize how fast things are moving around me.  The youth seem to process so much in such a short period of time.  On the other hand, the elderly seem as if they have problems just getting up and making it to the bathroom.  I guess that I am in between the youth, running at hyper speed, and the older generation, who slowly move along.  Even being in the middle, I can tell that I can’t process as much as the youth but I can move a little faster than the elderly. No matter what age you are in life, it seems as if  it is difficult to keep the correct focus.  The young have too many distractions, the elderly are dealing with so many problems in making it through life, and the people in the middle are worried that they are not young anymore and will soon be elderly. It seems difficult to focus with all of the distractions. We even allow them to interfere with our daily living.

What I am getting at is that I seem to mess up life.  I remember when I was a youth, I could not wait to get out of high school, then onto college, then get a job, then retirement, and then what, death?  Not a good outlook on life.

If real trouble sets in, then you deal with just trying to survive.  Survival mode is the rawness of  life.  People in this mode look at it as torment, but I think this is when we are raw and have nothing to look at but the moment we are in.  I meet people all the time who, due to the pressures of life, are  just trying to figure out what should they do next.

So, what should we do?

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.  Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV)

Jesus surrendered His will for God’s in order to save you!  Do you hate even hearing or saying the name of Jesus?  Are you willing to just focus and call out to Jesus?  Are you willing to stop looking everywhere but toward Jesus?  Are you willing to let Jesus lead your life?
