What is your counterfeit God? (Video)

You shall have no other gods before me.  Exodus 20:3 (NIV)

This past week one of the biggest Information Technology companies, Apple, deployed a new operating system for their mobile devices.  This software was distributed to 100’s of millions of people.  It amazes me how big of an impact something like this has.  In fact, this same week they released new iphones. All of this new technology seems to be the main topic of conversation: the new features they like, are you getting the new phone, what would you get, etc.

One problem I have that I was telling some friends about is how I get so focused on things.  Especially like this!  It can be a technology or something else that really does not matter at all!  In fact, it can even be something good but it still takes all of my thoughts.  I do not just do things but rather obsess about them with all my heart, mind, and soul until I get it, get it done, or get bored.

Someone told me to get the following book called ‘Counterfeit God’ by Timothy Keller.  This book is really amazing if you are dealing with things like this.  Below are some options if you want to dig in.  The book link, if you are a reader, is below.  If you want to see the author, talk about this and answer some questions dealing with this issue, the video below is lengthy but interesting on this topic.  If you have the time, the book is on audio in the stores for your mobile phone and I challenge you to listen if you do not want to read.

Do you feel that you are not good enough?  Are you always seeking something that does not matter?  Are you willing to hand over all of your life to Jesus Christ?
