Recently I was sitting outside and got burned by the sun. After a few days my skin started to itch. Most everyone has experienced this feeling. Depending on where and how badly you get burned can make it either bearable or unbearable. Areas like your back can add to the difficulty in scratching the itch. No matter what the itch is, it is constant until the skin heals.
What I am getting at is this: We are humans and it is hard for us to stay focused on things that are not driven by the flesh. Jesus talked about fasting. When I have fasted, I started to really focus on my hunger. After awhile, I started to realize how shallow I am and how God has done so much for me. My prayers are more focused and I seem to have a greater focus on God. The itch seems to have done the same thing. Does pain, suffering, peace, and/or anything cause you to focus on the right or wrong thing? Anything can, but the issue is that we can focus on the event or seek God and pass by the flesh.
“And that’s not all. You will have complete and free access to God’s kingdom, keys to open any and every door: no more barriers between heaven and earth, earth and heaven. A yes on earth is yes in heaven. A no on earth is no in heaven.” Matthew 16:19 (MSG)
When Peter spoke that Jesus was the Christ, he was informed by Jesus that our words and actions are the same no matter if on earth or heaven. Think about this? Our very actions here are the same there.
Do you want a constant itch so, that no matter what, you keep the focus? Have you ever fasted? What do you do to keep the focus on the correct priorities? As I pray and dig into God’s Word, I realize how three-dimensional it is. Are you staying with the two-dimensions or are you willing to go to the three-dimensions?
