Do you work too much?
I was teaching middle school students at church one week. I was asking the youth what they wanted me to pray for. The special needs student requested that I pray for his dad. He said, “All my Dad does is work and I never really get a chance to see him.”
The interesting thing about the average youth is that most of them are not this transparent. When this youth said this, we all looked at each other and I sensed that this is a bigger issue than I thought. I even wondered about myself, in the fact of how much I work and how much I am not with the family.
We can all make excuses but I really think this is a challenge to all of us! With todays technology, there is no reason for us not to be able to keep up with human interaction. The challenge this week is to schedule lunch/coffee, call, Facebook, twitter, email, text, etc. with the people in your life that you do not talk to much and need to. You know who they are and relationships are the most important part of life. If you have not been talking with someone for a long time and you know it, make it happen!!
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (ESV)
Are you focused on one thing too much? Are you not connecting with people you need to be connecting with? Have you prayed for people today? How can you help someone today?
