Spit it out, NOW!!
The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. Romans 13:12-14 (NIV)
I know when I was a teenager, people talked a lot about sex and drinking. I thought people would grow out of this. Well, most people seem to grow into this. I am asked all the time if I think it is OK to drink alcohol, or if it is OK to look at other people sexually as long as you do not do anything.
The question I have is that if you put something that tastes really bad in your mouth, what do you do? You spit it out, right? Sometimes your entire body bends over, your face twists up, and you don’t even think for a second. You just spit it out!
I wish the questions about behaving indecently, carousing, drunkenness, sexual immorality, and debauchery were like putting something bad in your mouth. You wouldn’t even need to think, but instinctively you would spit it out! Maybe we naturally just like bad things in our mouth?
Do you dwell on things or do things that you should not? Do you think it is OK to do things the Bible tells you not to? Do you ignore parts of the Bible that instruct you on what you should not do and only embrace the parts that tell you what you want to hear? How can you see what you should not do?
Are you willing to spit it out and run when you know you should, rather than stay and savor every byte?
Praying for you!
