Why?

prison, why me, why, stronger, death, life, pain, resolve, bound, paul, jailThis seems to be one of the number one questions of all time!  “Why?”  Every once and a while people may say, “Why me?” But in general, people want to know why things happen.

Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.  Philippians 1:12 (NIV)

Paul wrote this while he was in chains in prison.  Paul stated what happened to him would advance the gospel rather than why the events happened?

“That which does not kill us makes us stronger.”

Friedrich Nietzsche

We seem to go through life pushing back on so many things  rather than just looking at them and seeking to find what God wants us to do in the middle of the event.  The events I am talking about are things like being blamed for something you did or did not do, sinning and suffering the consequences, going through a painful event, or just about anything that involves something you do not want to deal with.

Can you live any event in your life with the expectation of knowing it will make you stronger?  Are you willing to look at life as a series of events that will help you further the gospel?  How can you change your mind like Paul?  Why?
