I come from a family of collectors. My Dad collected a lot of things. It was cool because so many people would come by and be impressed with his toy train collection.
Now that I am older, I look back at what this was and see how I am. I know this is something that I need to be careful with.
Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” Luke 12:15 (NIV)
My Mother and Father had so many possessions but they always made it clear that everything we had came from our Father in heaven. My Dad specifically never really talked about what he gave to people but after he had passed away I came to know what he had done for the Kingdom and it reaffirmed in me this verse.
Do you make possessions more important than God? Are you watching out for experimenting in all kinds of greed? Is your life made up of what your possessions are?
