Can you do it all by yourself?

Control, refuge, God, support, love, help, guidance, relief I tell you the truth, I have tried more times than I would like to admit–with my life, stuff and job!  I have done everything I can to control life, but it is in those life changing moments that you fall down on your face and stand before life and realize you have to rely on something.  It can be yourself or what?

Events such as when you come home from work and your spouse says they are done and leave.  No words or actions can convince them to stay.  Or when you are asked to go into your bosses’ office for them to tell you that you are being terminated with no severance or insurance.  Or even the doctors appointment when they inform you of a stage 4 cancer.

These are some events that I have recently heard from some people that are completely uncontrollable.

The following is what I would say is a source of refuge:

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Deuteronomy 33:27a (NIV)

The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:9-10 (NIV)

Even if I go through the deepest darkness, I will not be afraid, Lord, for you are with me. Your shepherd’s rod and staff protect me. Psalm 23:4 (Good News Version)

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4 (KJV)

I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:9‐10 (NIV)

But in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought him, and he was found by them. 2 Chronicles 15:4 (NIV)

I pray that you find some peace in these passages and I pray that you turn to God in helping you make it.  I have seen so many times God pulling people from their despair.
