Are you ready to retire?
Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” – James 4:13-15 (NIV)
James really knows how to cut to the soul. It used to be that I feared losing my job, death, or what was going to happen with my health. In today’s times it seems that you do not need to ask “if” but rather “when”.
My wife and I were talking about these things the other day and she said something that was profound to me. She said: “You don’t remember the entrance into this world what makes you think you will remember the exit?” Believe it or not this statement made me realize the part that James was talking about. What I realized is the fact that my life is a very short period of my overall existence.
As I dig into the Bible and look at other cultures, faith in the spiritual realm is amazing. We fear so much and say we are Christians. How can this be?
Do you live life asking for God’s will in your life? How do you deal with fear of job loss, health issues, or even death? What can you do to fall into Christ?
