Are you a person of action or words?
We seem to think that actions and words are mutually exclusive. Some believe that people will know if we show our loving actions and say nothing. Others believe if they tell people about love and do something different it will be OK. If you do the first it helps but how will they know if you do not tell them. Also, saying one thing and doing the other is the definition of a hypocrite.
Recently I heard someone tell a person they loved them. There were others listening and they were shocked. I asked them why were they shocked. They said that they do not normally see people or have people tell them that they love them. When I asked them who does not do this, they stated their parents! Really?
I, as a father, know that I work hard, provide for, and am willing to die for anyone in my family. This is admirable but if I do not tell my family and friends that I love them, is this a mistake? Should I support my actions with words? Should I support my words with actions?
If you have not recently told the person you love that you love them, DO IT NOW! If you have been telling someone that you love them and do nothing, GO DO SOMETHING NOW that shows them you love them!
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:18 (NIV)
