How important is prayer?

In this past week, I’ve had the privilege of being a part of 3 ‘prayer meetings’.The first one was the Sunday morning church service in which Pastor Battles stated ,”Prayer is the foundation of spiritual success.” Think about it. Having a conversation (prayer) with The Almighty is the key to our spiritual well-being!

So many of us jump into a project without asking God of we should. Is it important to ask God if it’s His will?

The second ‘prayer meeting’ was a gathering of 5 of us to pray for so many things: for missions, missionaries, country leaders, elections, Israel, mission trips, our pastors, our community, our families, etc. We all praised Him for sending His Son, for opportunities, for blessings, etc. The five of us left  with a renewed feeling of hope.

The third ‘prayer meeting’ was this morning at the world headquarters of a mission organization. The entire office was gathered in the chapel and for 2 hours we worshiped and prayed. What an awesome experience and blessing to all of us there. This organization places a priority on prayer. Because of their faith and this priority, they are very successful in spreading God’s Word throughout the world.

Do you take time to pray? Do you only ask or do you take time to also praise?

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  Philippians 4:6

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. Luke 18:1

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Colossians 4:2

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. James 5:16
