Where is your treasure?
When I think of ‘treasure’ I think of pirates. They are always on the hunt for one. If you think about it, we are either hunting for the treasure or we have it hidden away. If you use your treasure, it could have the potential of disappearing; unless, it is a treasure that is something you can use and would maintain it’s value.
“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luke 12:32-34 (NIV)
This passage is taken from a book in the Bible that is talking about not worrying. Why would this passage be in a place discussing how one should not worry? Can you image having a treasure that will not be stolen or that will never fail? So many of us look to money as something that will resolve our issues. As people invest, they get excited as their wealth grows; however, it’s possible that within a second everything they have could be gone. In today’s economy, there are many people dealing with the loss of their ‘treasure’.
How can you invest in a treasure that will never fail? Where is your treasure? Can you look into your heart and see where your treasure is? A good way to measure this is: Where are you spending your money? Where do you spend your time? What relationships are you investing in?
