I have heard so many people talk about if God is real why does he not help people going through such horrible issues?
I think if we are honest we have all asked this question one way or another. The interesting thing is that people even asked Jesus this question when he was being nailed to the cross.
In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” Matthew 27:41-43(NIV)
Again, when you think of all the horrible things that have gone on how could God allow it. Even God’s own son lived through a horrible death and neither He nor God did anything to stop it.
I was reading the other day about a king called Nebuchadnezzar. He was praising God but did several things to some of God’s people. After going through so many painful events this king said this about God:
He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done?” Daniel 4:35b (NIV)
If we look at God from our perspective we cannot make sense of it. If we look at God as if we are trying to explain everything to an ant, we can see that we do not even have a glimpse into the mind of God.
Nebuchadnezzar came to a realization that God can and will do anything but only from His perspective.
Do you understand that you have free will to make a decision but God controls it all? Are you willing to accept that you do not understand the complete picture and are willing to be OK with it? Are you willing to accept God’s will?
