I want to apply truth to my life, how?

Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.  Ephesians 6:13-18 (MSG)

A lot of people want to stand and scream when they are at sports games.  The action, the thrill of winning and the competition really helps people get excited about something that will not really matter within a few days after the event.  Why?

I think the real reason sports are so exciting is that it gives people something to aspire to or dream about.  Everyone is looking for fulfillment!

What if we took the Bible and made it our fulfillment or aspiration?  I tell you that sports are cool but nothing makes me want to get up and scream, as in a “Brave Heart” moment, like the conversation between David and Goliath prior to David killing him:

The Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the field.” Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the LORD saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hand.”  1 Samuel 17:44-47(ESV)

WOW!!  This small boy in front of armies has this kind of faith.  YEA!!!  Take this moment and ask God for this kind of  faith!  Walk this week in the faith of knowing that God is God and you are not!  He has armed you with the ability to make His name known!

Pray, run, live it!
