Is stress an issue in your life?
I remember my mother telling me that she was worried about me, then in the same sentence, she would tell me not to worry about anything. That always made me laugh. With life, there always seems to be a level of what I would call acceptable worry. The problems with worry are: 1. How can you not allow it to consume your life? 2. How can you take a break from it?
With all the things going on in the world today, it seems that everything is at an all time high level of stress. In looking at the Bible, some of the following verses come to mind:
Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:1-2(NIV)
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:3-4 (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7(NIV)
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3(NIV)
Do you find rest in your soul? What is your foundation? Have you given thanks to God for your sufferings today? When you are anxious, what do you do? Who do you trust?
