Does Prayer Work?
YES!!!!!
The Bible tells us:
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalms 145:18
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. ─ 1 John 5:14
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ─ Philippians 4:6-7
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. ─ Colossians 4:2
In the past couple of weeks my church family , as well as several other churches located all over the world, have prayed for a family stranded in a very dangerous place. This precious family is doing the Lord’s work in a place where war against Christians has broken out. Food and water became scarce, gasoline for cars was unable to obtain, and all flights were cancelled.
Yet after:
…1 schedule change, 1 cancellation, 1 delayed flight,
…4 different itineraries,
…3 days of travel
…4 airports,
…2 hotels,
…and 3 airplanes,
The family of 4+ arrived in America!
God’s children of all ages and from all walks of life prayed for safe travels and protection for this family. This past week, the young man stood in front of the church to thank everyone for taking the time to intercede on their behalf. He said that 1 of their flights was very late arriving in Germany and the airline didn’t show any seats for them on the flight to the USA. The airline representative made a phone call, and after a few minutes said, “Well, I don’t know how it happened, but you have seats on the flight to Atlanta.” He thought to himself, “I know how it happened!”
Prayers seemed to be answered!!!!!!
This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ ─ Matthew 6:9-13
Are you praying for God’s will to be done? Do you see the blessing from God no matter the answer? Do you give God time?
