Are there people that are walking dead?

‘The Walking Dead’ is the top cable television show right now.  This show is an American post-apocalyptic horror series that reflects what would happen if Zombies were real and people had to deal with them on a day to day basis.  These “Zombies” are not fast but, in masses, they can take over and eat a person that has not been turned into a Zombie.  In the show, the characters have to deal with everything we deal with daily, such as their faith, desires, murder, pride, hunger, health and so on.  Even though life seems to be doomed, they keep on trying to survive.

In the book of Revelations, there is a letter to a church in Sardis.  When I read this and heard a lot of people talking about the show ‘The Walking Dead’, it made me reflect on how I like the show but how much I’m motivated to get moving on real life situations.  When I meet with some people and talk about God in a certain way, they just do not want to deal with it.  This makes me wonder and I question my relationship with God?  Is it just me, or is it God and me, or is it just God?

Read the following:

Write this to Sardis, to the Angel of the church. The One holding the Seven Spirits of God in one hand, a firm grip on the Seven Stars with the other, speaks: “I see right through your work. You have a reputation for vigor and zest, but you’re dead, stone-dead.

“Up on your feet! Take a deep breath! Maybe there’s life in you yet. But I wouldn’t know it by looking at your busywork; nothing of God’s work has been completed. Your condition is desperate. Think of the gift you once had in your hands, the Message you heard with your ears—grasp it again and turn back to God.

 “If you pull the covers back over your head and sleep on, oblivious to God, I’ll return when you least expect it, break into your life like a thief in the night.

 “You still have a few followers of Jesus in Sardis who haven’t ruined themselves wallowing in the muck of the world’s ways. They’ll walk with me on parade! They’ve proved their worth!

“Conquerors will march in the victory parade, their names indelible in the Book of Life. I’ll lead them up and present them by name to my Father and his Angels.

“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches.”  Revelation 3:1-6 (MSG)

Do you have a reputation for vigor and zest?  Are you stone dead?  Is there life in you yet?  Are you willing to turn back to God?  Do you wallow in the muck of the world?  Are you awake?  Listen!!!
