What is growing in your head?

Ergonomik

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  John 15:5 (NIV)

Spring is a beautiful time of the year!! It is a time of new growth and renewal. The trees are full of flowers and new leaves. The earth is alive again after the cold of winter.

Have you noticed that gorgeous purple cluster of flowers cascading off of the trees? What a gorgeous sight!!

Don’t be deceived!! The breathtaking wisteria vine can be quite invasive! It has no boundaries. It quickly grows and takes over whatever is in its’ path. It is able to choke out any tree or plant that it attaches itself too.

Years ago, I told an aunt that I would love to plant wisteria all along a fence in my back yard. She quickly and loudly said that I didn’t want to do that because it would take over the fence, trees and the yard. I listened to her. I realized that she was right when I’ve seen examples of the invasive vine!

Do you have an invasive ‘vine’ taking over your mind? Do you allow TV, films, video games, phone calls, gossip, the computer, etc. to take your time away from the one true ‘vine’?  Is your time with God being ‘choked’ out with useless things? Are you being deceived? What can you do to be more fruitful?

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.  Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.  John 15:1-4(NIV)
