Are you drying up?

This past week, the United States has been in a record-breaking heat wave. It reached 106 degrees in my city, which is the highest ever-recorded temperature. People are staying inside trying to stay cool; however, some have had to leave their homes due to power outages. Their homes became like ovens. Emergency workers have been going door-to-door taking water and ice to those without AC or power.

We are not made to withstand such heat without water.

What happens to that beautiful plant when it is not watered? Does it shrivel up and die?

We are very much like those plants. We also need to be ‘watered’. When we stay in the Word of God (read the Bible), we thrive. We soak up the meaning and flourish. When we do not ‘dive deep’ into God’s Word, we also shrivel up and perish.

Psalm 1 explains:

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.  That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.  Not so the wicked!  They are like chaff that the wind blows away.  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.  For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

Are you reading/studying the Bible on a daily basis?  Doing so will make a big difference in your life.
