Help the people that need it!!

Sorrow When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”  On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’  For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”  Matthew 9:11-13 (NIV)

When Jesus states, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’, it blows my mind!  My wife has shown me this over and over again.  I am the kind of person that wants to sacrifice myself and others to get the job done.  This verse is extremely powerful.  It shows that Jesus was eating with people that were not the “good” people, but rather the “bad” people.  The religious leaders wondered why he would do this.  He said He was there for the sick, not the healthy.

Are you showing mercy?  Are you helping the “sick”?  Do you do what is comfortable?  Are you setting yourself up to be spit out of God’s mouth (Revelation 3:15-17 (NIV))?
