Who are you?

revelation, thief, cross, love, jesus, humbleBeing a Christian I know I am saved by Grace!*  It is not what I do or say but rather the free gift that God has given me.  I ask myself all the time if I really believe based on faith and I am torn in my thoughts.

*For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

I seek Christ, I try to live a “good” life, but I am and will always be a sinful person!

The question of “Who are you?”  is based on the following passage:

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”  But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”  Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”  Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”  Luke 23:39-43 (NIV)

I really think there are “Christians” like the two men on the cross next to Jesus!  Christians that are arrogant, focused on themselves, seeking any and everything they can get, and blaming Jesus for everything!  On the other hand, I believe that there are some “Christians” who humbly stand before God. They are willing to take the crumbs that fall from His table; and knowing that everything, even pain or joy, comes from the Father, are blessed by it!

If you are like me you say to God, ‘Remember me’, and then in the same breath try to take advantage of someone.

Do you accept God’s free gift?  Do you seek for yourself?  Are you humbly standing before God asking Him to remember you?  Do you always remember that it is not about you but about glorifying the Father?
