Should you do the fun things first?

Express Monorail

Would you categorize yourself as a worker?  Do you know how to have fun?  Do you have too much fun?  It seems that with our ability to want to control everything, we even control our fun. If others are having fun while we work, we get upset that we are not having fun.  The following is a thought:

This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot.  Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.  They seldom reflect on the days of their life, because God keeps them occupied with gladness of heart.  Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 (NIV)

The key to this passage is that EVERYTHING comes from God.  Everything includes the toilsome labor, the ‘lot’, wealth, possessions, ability to enjoy, etc.  Do you accept and enjoy where you are?  Do you fight day by day with everything?  Are you willing to work, have fun, and/or seek out wisdom all in the name of God?  Do you reflect on the days of your life and know that they are numbered and you need to live each one to the fullest?

If you have been working hard, have some fun!  Enjoy life and seek to have peace with God!  If you always try to have fun and never want to work, step up and help a worker!
