Do you ever go to the sound of silence?
We all need a time of silence! There are just too many ‘noisy’ distractions which interfere with our time to hear what God says to us. The sounds of this world, which can be very loud, can interfere with our purpose; which is to be consistently about the business of God.
We all need time to unplug from the world to be with God in silence and solitude.
Solitude is the place of conversion where we can be in the presence of God.
The purposes of silence and solitude are to:
- Hear God’s voice better
- To express worship to God
- To regain spiritual perspective
- To seek the will of God.
Will you unplug and go to the place of silence and solitude?
The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. (Mark 6:30-32)
